Techleap.nl Rise presents Batch #2

This time again companies from all over the Netherlands applied to join the program. An experienced independent selection committee selected 11 scaleups based on their overall value proposition, traction, the potential to scale and program fit. For Batch #2 in the Rise program we were looking for tech companies that are actively “Flattening the Climate Curve” and are making innovations and big steps in for example the energy and waste industries. And so, we are proud to present to you the 11 scaleups that are making great strides in creating a more sustainable future for everyone.

DyeCoo

Did you know that 20% of the global water depletion is coming from the fashion and apparel industry? A massive part of this water usage comes from dyeing. DyeCoo has the last 10 years invented, modified and optimised the use of Carbon Dioxide to dye fabrics. By utilising supercritical CO2 the process eliminates water from the dyeing process, in a closed-loop dyeing system. Thanks to the high permeability, the dyes are transported easily and deeply into fibres, creating vibrant colours. This revolutionary CO2-based dyeing process makes textile dyeing more sustainable, without compromising on performance or efficiency.

Excess Materials Exchange

Excess Materials Exchange (EME) is a digital matching platform or rather a dating website for companies where they, instead of matching with potential love interests, can find a match for their waste materials. Tulip heads, for example, get thrown away after being flowered, but did you know that tulip heads can be converted into pigments? EME can match this tulip company with a pigment maker. The result? No waste! There are still far too many valuable resources and materials that are being wasted or ill-designed in the current paradigm. And the planet is paying a heavy price. EME’s solution will accelerate the global transition to a circular economy.

Felyx

Are the city streets too crowded to go by car and does taking public transport or riding your bike take too long? Felyx is leading the way towards making travel not only faster and more fun, but is also contributing to better cities and a healthier planet. Customers can rent an e-scooter for €0.30 per minute by app and get around town affordably and quickly. The app finds and reserves the scooter closest to you and activates the vehicle without needing a key or access card. With Felyx’s electric scooters people are able to travel without the downsides of inefficient public transport or the pollution and traffic jams associated with cars.

Hardt Hyperloop

Hardt Hyperloop is dedicated to revolutionise the future of transportation with the hyperloop. For future-proof and resilient transportation, we need infrastructure that is affordable to build and maintain, energy efficient with zero emissions, and offering high capacity. This all while being competitive in speed with the existing modes. This is hyperloop: a safe, high-speed, zero-emissions transportation system for passengers and cargo consisting of vehicles moving through tubes with a low-pressure environment. Hyperloop offers a shorter travel time than aviation, is cheaper to build and maintain compared to high-speed rail, and offers double its capacity.

Lightyear

All the cars on the world combined drive about one lightyear of kilometers, each year. But they’re destroying the world by doing so. Therefore it is Lightyear’s goal to provide a substitute for fossil fuels and reach a lightyear of 100% sustainable transportation before 2035. Lightyear started the development of their solar vehicles by designing around the system that will power it all: the solar roof. Lightyear builds long-range electric cars that charge themselves with solar cells in their roof. In order to deliver a convenient user experience, Lightyear is also developing the software architecture and user interface of the vehicle. By maximising the solar yield they maximise the independence and amount of truly sustainable kilometers for the end-user.

Overstory

The warming climate has been causing an increase in wildfires worldwide. What if we could act sooner in controlling these or even preventing them from happening?  Overstory applies machine learning to satellite imagery to extract real-time insights about forests and vegetation. As a result, Overstory is able to monitor large areas of land at a fraction of the costs and time. Overstory can measure the growth rate of trees, storm damage, and even fire risks. In this way, they help energy companies to mitigate wildfires and power outages. Improving the safety and reliability of the transmission and distribution system and reducing grid operation cost. Making sure to leave a greener planet for future generations.

Sensorfact

How do you know if you’re wasting energy and are paying too much on your bills? Reduce your footprint and energy bill by eliminating industrial energy waste. Sensorfact developed wireless clamp-on sensors that measure the energy consumption on a machine level every 30 seconds. The data obtained is then sent wirelessly and securely via a bridge to the Sensorfact software. Energy Consultants identify the saving opportunities of the main energy-consuming machines and calculate the saving potential and tracking of the implemented savings. Reducing energy wastage does not only save you money but also makes a valuable contribution to a more sustainable society.
